The Nuclear Goddess: Babalon Workshop by Soror Alzbeth
Babalon is a goddess of Thelema yet she is not a goddess but an archetype. She can been seen as many things: the female sexual impulse, the liberated woman, and the union of opposites. She is a powerful and Unrestrained force of nature who breaks down the norms and taboos of the Current age. The result of her living free in someone is the true expression of individual will and desire.
The workshop explored Babalon in a variety of contexts and included a ritual performed by Sister Alzbeth. It was well received!
The Feast for the First Night of the Prophet and His Bride History, Symbolism and Celebration
Today, at our first meeting after August 12th we celebrated this occasion! On August 12th, 1903, Aleister Crowley wed Rose Edith Kelly in a quiet civil ceremony in Dingwall, Scotland. Though their marriage began as a pragmatic act to free Rose from an unwanted engagement, it quickly evolved into a spiritual turning point that would reverberate throughout the history of modern occultism. This union, seemingly ordinary on its surface, set in motion the events that led to the reception of Liber AL vel Legis, The Book of the Law, in Cairo in April 1904.
Celebrating the First Night of the Bride and the Beast: The Chymical Wedding as a Gateway to the Holy Guardian Angel.
“This feast is celebrated on August 12, and its primary purpose is to celebrate the anniversary of Crowley’s marriage to Rose that made possible the reception of The Book of the Law. Crowley comments, “There should be a special feast on the 12th day of August in every year, since it was the marriage of The Beast which made possible the revelation of the New Law. (This is not an Apology for Marriage. Hard Cases make Bad Law).” In terms of E.G.C., this ceremony represents the Collect of Marriage, which involves the union of all things, not only the legal proceedings of marriage. In terms of M.M.M., this ceremony represents II° insofar as this shows the soul “how it may best carry out its object in the eucharist of life. It partakes, so to speak, of its own godhead in every action, but especially through the typical sacrament of marriage, understood as the voluntary union of itself with each element of its environment” (Confessions, ch.72).”
ROSA MUNDI Aleister Crowley wrote several poems dedicated to Rose, which were published in a collection titled “Rosa Mundi and other Love Songs”. These poems, some of which were published under the pseudonym “H.D. Carr,” romantically depict their relationship and highlight Rose’s influence on his work, particularly during their honeymoon in Cairo where they received the text of The Book of the Law.
We took it in turns to read poems from ROSA MUNDI and then there was cake….
